Event Details

On Sunday, October 30 at 2 p.m., the Evansville Museum’s curator of history, Tom Lonnberg, will present the illustrated talk Evansville on the Ohio. He will examine Evansville’s evolving riverfront from the city’s founding in 1812 to the present time. The talk will detail how Evansville – a city founded on the banks of the Ohio River – has changed and adapted its riverfront to meet the needs of the times. This will include a look at the riverfront during the bustling age of the steamboat, the impact of devastating floods – including the great 1937 flood, and more recent efforts to re-engage with the riverfront. A graduate of the University of Southern Indiana and Indiana University, Lonnberg has been with the Museum since 1988.
